哈弗、耶鲁、普林斯顿这些大学，是众所周知的传统美国“藤校”。这次福布斯发表的藤校名单里，共有 20 所大学，分为公立、私立两类。
十所私立藤校是：波士顿学院 (Boston College)、卡内基梅隆大学 (Carnegie Mellon University)、埃默里大学 (Emory University)、乔治城大学 (Georgetown University)、约翰霍普金斯大学 (Johns Hopkins University)、西北大学 (Northwestern University)、莱斯大学 (Rice University)、圣母大学 (University of Notre Dame)、南加州大学 (University of Southern California) 和范德堡大学 (Vanderbilt University)。
上榜的其他九所公立大学分别是宾汉姆顿大学 (Binghamton University)、佐治亚理工学院 (Georgia Tech)、佛罗里达大学 (University of Florida)、伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳-香槟分校 (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign)、马里兰大学帕克分校 (University of Maryland-College Park)、北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校 (University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill)、德克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校 (University of Texas-Austin)、弗吉尼亚大学 (University of Virginia) 和威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校 (University of Wisconsin-Madison)。
安娜堡的密西根大学录取率为 18%，SAT 平均分数为 1470（满分 1600），ACT 平均分数为 33（满分 36）。
